چکیده

The analysis of the passenger spill data is an integral part for the determination of optimal aircraft capacities in the airline fleet assignment process. Most research in this study has assumed that the nominal demand is normally distributed. But empirical evidences show that normal probability distribution is not suitable in many cases because of asymmetry nature of the data. In the present study, we derive the essential formulae for calculating the expected number of spilled passengers when the nominal demand is assumed to follow a Gumbel and a Moyal probability distributions. A comparison of the corresponding results with a normal, a logistic, a log-normal, and a gamma probability distributions is also presented.

Low flow frequency analysis by L-moments method (Case study: Iranian Central Plateau River Basin)

Knowledge about low flow statistics is essential for effective water resource planning and management in ungauged orpoorly gauged catchment areas, especially in arid and semi-arid regions such as Iran. We employed a data set of 20 riverflow time-series from the Iranian Central Plateau River Basin, Iran to evaluate the low-flow series using several frequencyanalysis methods and compared the resu...

Frequency Analysis of Maximum Daily Rainfall in various Climates of Iran

In this research in order to frequency analysis of maximum daily rainfall in various climates of Iran the data of 40 synoptic rain gauges collected in 40 years period i.e., 1973 to 2012 were used. These stations are located in various climates of Iran according to De Martonne climatic classification. At first, input of data to HYFA package was performed. The mentioned package includes seven...

Using Weibull probability distribution to calibrate prevailing wind applying in oil spill simulation

In the Persian Gulf, the major source of oil pollution is related to the transportation of tankers, offshore production and discharges by coastal refineries. The water dynamical field has been obtained using a new hydrodynamic model. Local wind is recognized as the principal driving force combining to the water dynamic field to determine oil drift on the sea surface. The Weibull probability dis...

2 7 A ug 2 00 8 Superpositions of Probability Distributions

Abstract Probability distributions which can be obtained from superpositions of Gaussian distributions of different variances v = σ2 play a favored role in quantum theory and financial markets. Such superpositions need not necessarily obey the Chapman-Kolmogorov semigroup relation for Markovian processes because they may introduce memory effects. We derive the general form of the smearing distr...

New results for tails of probability distributions according to their asymptotic decay

This paper provides new properties for tails of probability distributions belonging to a class defined according to the asymptotic decay of the tails. This class contains the one of regularly varying tails of distributions. The main results concern the relation between this larger class and the maximum domains of attraction of Fréchet and Gumbel.
